Surf's Up, iPod Up!

The day the long awaited Youth Rally 2007 ( Surf's Up! ) came to past as of yesterday. With efforts from many people, the event kicked off and ended with a bang. I'm pretty sure it's the craziest, best and cost the most compared to other youth rallies held in FGA USJ. Good job guys, and a pat on the back for me as well for being the usher.

The rally kicked off at 7.30 PM. Well, the committee arrived at 5 PM to have last minute discussions and also touch ups for the decorations. I arrived and found myself helping out to hang the enormous "Surf's Up!" text on the wall. However, there was a huge lorry with the exhaust pipe facing to my direction with the engine on. To make things worse, the wind was blowing at my direction. *cough* I wonder how many years of my life has been taken away. Thank you lorry driver.

The hawaiian themed decoration

People started coming in at 7 PM. Welcomed them and met some familliar faces. Around 8 PM , I went up to join the fun. It was praise and worship. The crowd was not very responsive at first. Shy perhaps? However, that changed as the worship leader worked the crowd up and soon after that most of the crowd were having the time of their lives. Yes, including me. The agenda continued with games. Well, it was called "juicy chick" for some reason. I don't think I need to explain the game as it was something like 1 2 "jus". Heh. Guess who won? A chick (girl ) la of course.

Another session of praise and worship was after that. Yeah, most people had a fun time again. Well, I did the "train line" as we would normally do. It was nice to see people join in the line and moved around instead of just jumping/dancing on a single static spot. After an exciting time of praise and worship, another game was played. This time, it was tested one's ability to control their laughter on in other words, the ability to loose all emotions for a short timespan. Five girls and another 5 boys were selected. They were all treated to chinese dialouges with weird/funny/banana accents. Many of them had a hard time finding humour in it. I'm sorry but I have to say that I didn't find anything funny with it too. However, people laughed to stimulate laughter in the contestants ( perhaps some laughed because it was funny to them, at least ). In the end, only 3 boys were left and none of the girls laughed. Girls are emotionless! =X

A group of excited people looking forward to the rally

Ps. Christopher Long took over the microphone later to give an interesting speech. He was so into his message. Anyone could've seen that, unless they were preoccupied with other things. Since this rally was an evangelistic event, he preached about the free gift of salvation. Yeah, many people responded to his message. =) Oh, not to forget, lucky draws were made during the event. Free CDs, T-shirts, thumbdrives and an iPod were at stake. The drawing of the number that would win the iPod was made during the end of the event. Yup, you've guessed/known it. I won the iPod with my ever lucky/faithful ( bad luck to some superstitious people ) number, 044. I took home a brand new iPod shuffle that night and guess who'll be using it? My sister.

Surf's Up, iPod Up!

Refreshments were layed out on the table, everyone was treated with a cup of cocktail and sausages and cucumber on a stick? Everyone went home later except the committee. Why? We had to clean up and arrange chairs for tomorrow's service! Hmm, not forgetting that Sidewayz crew performed an energetic dance with flips and breakmoves. No one in church interested in shuffling ar? Sad. To those who missed the chance to grab one of the T-shirts you can still do so. If you're interested, contact me. ( I'm not receiving any commissions or whatsoever. I'm just promoting it. )
