Valentine's Day

INTI College Subang Jaya has the best A-Levels office in town. Not only is it a venue for administrative work but it has also been a venue for students to hang out for a long time already. I myself have been passing time at the A-Levels office using the computer or eating the sweets from Mr. Sam's box of sweets. During the Chinese New Year season, the A-Levels office has been stocked with mandarin oranges. Everyone is invited to take one as they enter the office! However, today there was a different kind of mandarin orange. It was small but extremely tasty. My friends and I swept the A-Levels office clean of it. Good news though, Mr. Sam bought another box of those mandarin oranges! Thanks for the oranges!

Please take one!

College started off with Chemistry today as Ms. Irene took leave to spend Valentine's Day with her husband. Moving on, it was another experiment on titration again. I had a little competition with Tang Yu Han as he is always the first to complete the experiment. However, I was behind him no matter how fast I was. Today's titration did not produce any results. Sigh. Everyone's conical flash remained transparent. Mrs. Ling did some calculations and noticed that the potassium manganate(VII) solution was not of concentration required. Therefore, we made our own potassium manganate(VII) solution and the end point was visible. A light shade of pink could be seen. Cheers! Steven and Yu Han had the honour of carrying out the titration with the newly made potassium manganate(VII) solution.

Did not have lunch today. No idea why though. Must be due to the slurpee, mandarin oranges and the kuih Justin bought from Asia Cafe. Saved some extra money today! =). After Chemistry was Physics. Mr. Yeoh continued chapter 6 and soon after he gave us another tutorial. It looked easy but I was fumbling over it. Sigh, I must be getting stupid. On the other hand, Steven managed to finish it in a short span of time. He is such a genius man! I really need to kick start my brain. Class ended early today too! By the way, there was a Chinese New Year celebration by the Chinese Cultural Club today. Went outside the classroom and spotted an arrangement of drums in the basketball court. Around two, the president of the club went on the stage and gave the opening speech.

Happy Chinese New Year!

The crowd

After all the formalities, everyone was invited to the basketball court to feast their eyes on some performances. The first performance up was the beating of drums. The sound waves were so strong that I could feel it resonate inside me. Seriously. It truly was a great performance by them even though they were baked under the hot sun. This is the first time I have witnessed such performance.

Standing tall

After that, it was the lion dance. The lions rushed towards the crowd so that people can touch it. I do not know what this resembles or the meaning of it. However, it is as though the lions were charging for the humans. Animal instinct.

Human meat!

The lion dance when on with moves that suggest both of the lions were competing for the food placed. They even played football with the pomelo. Well, it is hard to explain the lion dance in words and I will leave it to the pictures to do the talking.

Lions on the charge

Display of power

Not to forget there was a pineapple on the silver platter. The lion dancers had to collect the fruits to make it as though as the lion ate it. I pity the person that had to keep the pineapple fruit while performing. It pricks.

Don't come near me!

Towards the end of the performance, the lions gave out oranges to the spectators. Some spectators were afraid of the lions. They backed off as it approached them. Ha ha.

The unsung ones

I had a chance to get up close to the lions. The lion headed towards Steven and me. However, he gave the orange to him. I was wearing a black t-shirt then. Superstitions? Ha ha.

Tall

The finale was the persentation of the fruit platter to the head of INTI I suppose. The fruits were altered and arranged in a way to form a "dish" which resembles something which I do not know again. Then, the emcee invited everyone back to the concourse to have a seat and enjoy the upcoming events.

Here you go

There were lucky draw, performances, Mr. and Ms. Oriental and Mr. and Ms. Vico. About the lucky draw, the first prize was a digital camera and the second was a handphone. Well, Calvin bought more than thirty tickets and none of it won him any prize. Must have been a really bad day for him. Ha ha! By the way, it seems that the guy who won the digital camera only bought one ticket!
