Interviewed

I went for the JPA scholarship interview last Thursday, which was to commence at 10 AM. Had to skip college due to this. Went on the road at 8.30 AM and was in Putrajaya in the next half and hour. Putrajaya is like a ghost town. Roads were built extremely wide to accommodate a lot of cars but there was only one or two cars on the road at one point, at any given time. Besides that, the traffic lights were downright confusing. On the plus side, there were many amazing structures in Putrajaya; mainly the bridges. We alighted from the vehicle and went up, to the place where the interview was to be held.

Up, up

I checked the venue for my interview. I was to be interviewed in room 20. It was one of the last rooms. Makes me wonder whether I am the last picks. I was to be the first batch to enter the room to be interviewed. However, it turns out that a few people were late for the 8.00 AM interview. Therefore, my interview session was delayed a few minutes. At 10.30 AM, I went in the room with six other interviewees. First up, we were asked to introduce ourselves. In Malay. I was in trouble. I have not spoken Malay for a pretty long time. As I introduced myself, I had trouble finding the best words to be put forth. I paused after every few words. Sigh.

The meeting area

Moving on, it was time to speak about a topic given by the interviewers. The interviewers asked us on current issues. We were supposed to name them as well as the details about it. I mentioned about the incident whereby the Klang Municipal officers dragged a businessman out of his own shop for not paying the parking ticket. On the other hand, I also did mention about the delays in transporting the National Service trainees to their campsite. This time, my Malay was a little better. Next up, the interviewers gave us three minutes to sit in a circle to discuss about the statement that unemployment is due to graduates being too choosy. It was conducted in English. Yay! At the end of the three minutes, we were asked individually on our stand; whether we agree or disagree on the statement. Five out of seven people choose to agree with it. I, being the black sheep disagreed with concrete reasons. I hope I did impressed the interviewers there and then.

Went for a psychology test after the interview. Completed 282 questions in 30 minutes. Wow! Went home immediately after that.
